An echo is a good way to describe the photogram, which is a visual echo of the real object. That's why I like to work with the photogram, because the contact with what is represented is actual. It's as if the border between the world and the print is osmotic.

Olivo Barbieri
[Photographer, b. 1954, Carpi, Italy, lives in Milan.]

I am no longer interested in seeing and knowing everything all at once in my work. Yukio Mishima
[Writer, b. 1925, Tokyo, d. 1970, Tokyo.]

David Maisel
[Photographer, b. 1961, New York, lives in San Francisco.]

It occurred to me that I could be taking pictures of my studio floor. It does look like something I would shoot. But to me it would be meaningless. Ralph Gibson
[Photographer, b. 1939, Los Angeles, California, lives in New York.]

I’m interested in producing truncated shapes in proportion to the frame and composition, shapes that are preferably luminous. I’m not interested in the full-figure. I want to abstract forms.

Unfortunately, there was no Jackson Pollock of the camera.
